Clutter Busting Challenge: Update #1

Total organization is the goal, but the process is everlasting!

My home is organized and clean but that doesn’t mean that I don’t have thing that I own that I find I no longer need. I am constantly bringing new things into my home therefore older things need to be disposed of. I have things I have saved that served its purpose for a time but it’s time to let go off. One of the ways I have kept my home clean and organized is by doing a decluttering project as each season changes.  In the fall I like to clean out closets and before the holidays I like to clean out and organize my kitchen. I do the garage, shed, and porches in the spring and then again in the fall.  I always have a decluttering and organizing project that I am working on.

I started my blog in 2009 and have participated in various challenges offered on blogs I follow which has added to the fun of an otherwise boring task. I have been downsizing our possessions a lot over the last 2 years since my kids are almost grown which I understand some people go through as they prepare for an empty nest.
The things I got rid of since May 1st:

A pair of shoes, 3 pairs of sunglasses, 2 check registers, and 2 shirts.

A coffee pot that I'm getting rid of because I bought a thermal coffee pot so I no longer have to deal with breaking one glass pot a year, a basket, 2 baby blankets since my granddaughter has enough, 3 music cd's that I ripped to my computer, 2 previously read books, a baggies of creamers, and a dress that didn't fit right.

A fish bowl with stuff in it, goldfish food, hermit crab food, mill worms, beta fish food, a coconut house, all stuff that my kids are done with and a bag of children's erasers.

Stuff to be donated to our previous 4H Club are 11 unused 4H project books and a 4H shirt.

2 swings from a swing set taken down 2 summers ago, and a collection of boxes not needed for our daughter's upcoming move.

6 Books from my bookshelf and a pillow.
My List of Things that went into the trash:
Popcorn balls leftover from Halloween
A storage bag with 15 dried glue sticks
A stack of magazines from my porch from last summer
This stuff almost filled a tall kitchen trash bag.
